The SR-Series Call Processor solves the problem with the fax programs for the products listed below that do not support the distinctive ring feature.
Because the implementations of UNIMODEM in TAPI do not support the distinctive ring
feature, they cannot distinguish calls for distinct numbers if the phone line is enabled with distinctive ring without a third-party device to provide support for distinctive ring feature such as the SR Series Call Processor.

Direct your distinctive ring calls to the phone(s) or device(s) you designate
with either product from Multi-Link's SR™ distinctive ring
detector Series instead of using the distinctive ring detect
in MicroSoft Windows XP or 2000.
As you are probably aware of by now, the distinctive ring detect in MicroSoft Windows XP or 2000 does not work anymore. MicroSoft recommends a third-party device to provide support for distinctive ring feature.
A SR Distinctive Ring Processor is the solution for XP or 2000 that always works.
Once installed on your home or office telephone line, the SR distinctive
ring detection device "listens" to incoming calls to determine ring pattern.
The SR distinctive ring detector is great for separating business
from personal calls, fax from voice calls, TDD from voice calls, etc...too.
Your fax number rings the fax (fax-modem), your voice number rings your
phones, Modem calls are detected and are sent directly to the modem, etc...on a SINGLE phone line.
The SR2 distinctive ring detector is designed for the usual two distinctive
ring services offered by most phone companies (two numbers).
The SR3 distinctive ring detector can process either two or three separate distinctive rings as offered in some enhanced phone services (three numbers).
Both the SR2 and SR3 offer a barge-in protection function.
All SR distinctive ring detectors feature the Smartware™ embedded
software that "learns" your phone company's specific distinctive ring
patterns. Thus, the SR is guaranteed to work with whatever phone company you may have or anywhere you live. This is why the SR is 100% accurate and other products are not.
