line can be shared by any combination of two communication devices. That's a MODEM and a phone or two FAX machines or even an answering
machine and credit card authorization terminal.

The Versa-Link ATX-250 saves money by eliminating phone lines. It allows you to add equipment without adding lines.
The ATX-250 is an automatic call processor which administers precision call routing based on CNG tones, DTMF tones or Distinctive Ring service.
DIP switches located on the device allow for easy programming. The output jacks are labeled Device 1 and 2 leaving the user free to use any combination of communication devices.
Barge-in protection keeps your data transmissions free from interruption. A busy signal is heard when other devices attempt to use the outgoing line.
The ATX-250 ® works on a standard POTS line and answers inbound calls at the first sign of ring voltage.
The ATX-250 ® immediately screens for CNG (fax), DTMF (touch tones) transfer codes or Distinctive Ring voltages. . During this processing period, the bell spec “ring back” tones
is issued out to the calling party.
Once a transfer command is received, the call is routed to the corresponding port. In the absence of fax/transfer codes, the call is defaulted to the voice ports. Outbound calls are processed in the normal fashion with barge-in protection.

precision routes to the specified destination.
Manual Transfer -Calls can be manually transferred between the phone,
FAX or MODEM at anytime by either the caller or the called party.
"Distinctive Ring" -Operation Mode-Works with the "Distinctive Ring"
service offered by your local phone company. Detects the different ring patterns associated with each
phone number and routes the call to devices designated for answering
that phone number. This feature is optional and provides 100% foolproof
switching.
"Call Opti-Mizer"
-A user-selectable features designed specifically
for after-hours FAX transmission. Will route all unanswered calls to
the FAX machine after a programmed number of rings.
Barge-In Protection -With our "Barge In" feature, you are assured privacy
and protection when utilizing the line for voice or data communications.
For example, when the phone line is accessed by your FAX or MODEM the
other phones will receive a busy signal when the receiver is lifted.
Data transmission protection is a must when a
FAX or a MODEM is use it is also important not to be able to disrupt
voice calls either.
Full Memory Retention - -All program and feature changes are made with the ATX-250's
dip switches. In case of a power outage or equipment failure, the Versa-Link
will automatically reset itself to the program you have selected. No
need for reprogramming or battery backups.

Ring Energy -The ATX-250 will now ring more phones than other call processors.
