Question: How does it work?
Answer:
The TeleVoIP Stick™
blends VoIP access with the users current land line (POTS) phone service, thereby optimizing call options without changing calling habits. The TeleVoIP Stick™ Has two main components: The Control Switch (hardware) and "TeleVoice Connected" software.

The Control Switch converts analog pones into VoIP phone without loosing analog features. The software program runs on the users PC and acts as a "decision engine" which can access either the users VoIP provider or the land line. The rules for outbound calling are user defined.

Question: What happens on inbound VoIP calls? PSTN calls?
Answer: When a VoIP call is received through the VoIP connection, the TeleVoceTM Connected application reacts to the incoming call and the TeleVoIP Stick rings the phone(s) attached to it. When a PSTN call is received, the TeleVoIP stick rings the phone(s) attached to it. In either case the user answers the call as they normally would. The user has the option of answering the VoIP calls at the PC’s Desktop on the MIC and Speakers (or headset).

Question: How does the TeleVoIP STICK system handle (E)911 calls?
Answer: The major, and potentially dangerous, limitation of VoIP technology is emergency calling, i.e. 911. VoIP is still evolving and cannot provide emergency personnel with critical Caller ID info such as name, number, and physical address. Also, in the event of power or service outage VoIP will not work. The TeleVoIP STICK provides the user with land line access in the event of a 911 call, power outage, or service outage. The TeleVoIP Stick defaults all calls to the PSTN line during these events and if the PC Software application is not available.

To place an (E)911 emergency call you must have a PSTN line attached, pick up the phone get the PC dial-tone or the PSTN dial-Tone and enter the emergency number, from either dial-tone. 911 is the default but this can be changed with user setting to meet requirement of the locale if different.

Question: When I pick up the phone receiver, I immediately get PSTN dial tone. Why?
Answer: There could be a variety of causes:

  1. The PC has an open VOIP session already and you are getting PSTN dial tone as a parallel operation.

  2. The Multilink Adapter Interface program is not running for some reason, start the program.

  3. Insure the MIC & Speaker cable connections from the TeleVoip Stick to the PC sound jacks are securely inserted at both ends.

  4. Your recording MIC volume may be muted or set too low(at or near MIN), remove the mute and/or insure the recording MIC volume is not at MIN level. Suggest an initial level setting of about 50%
