The CS 5500 offers Distinctive Ring mode for simple line sharing.

When you add a second phone number to your single line via the distinctive ring service from your local phone company (different companies have various names for this service; check with your phone company for details), the CS 5500 routes the call automatically to the proper device via either the primary number or the distinctive ring number.

In short, the CS 5500 is able to recognize specific ring patterns assigned to your different phone numbers and route calls to the right device.

With the CS 5500 , you can use phone company Voice Mail and Caller ID - We've made it possible for the CS 5500 to work with Voice Messaging from the phone company (requires Distinctive Ring service activation). The system is also compatible with Caller ID service (requires service activation).

Monitoring - ComSwitch 5500 is so smart it stays on the line during every call, listening for tone commands you send from the keypad of a telephone. So you can talk for a few minutes, push three keys, and transfer the call to your fax machine to receive a document. All on the same call.

Command Communications Comswitch 5500 is a 3 port modem or fax switch. A 3 Port device means 2 ports are linked (like a jack for phone and another for answering machine) and are identical with 1 additional port for the distinctive ring connected device. Typical uses include phones, answering machines, fax machines, modems, etc. It is a little confusing but basically it allows you to have one primary number (normal ring) and one distinctive ring number each routed to the proper device.

The Comswitch 5500 has automatic or semi-automatic modes with Distinctive Ring detection, Caller ID and is voicemail compatible. It is also DSL or ADSL compatible (two 8K in-line micro filter phone filters are required, available from most consumer electronics stores).

It stays on the line during every call, listening for touch tone commands that you may send from the keypad of a telephone (you can talk for a few minutes, push three keys, and transfer the call to your fax machine to receive a document, all on the same call). Remote message notification is a unique feature (every time a voice message, fax, or data transmission is received, the unit will automatically send a special tone to any desired local or long-distance phone number)
