For a given class of emission, the width of the frequency band which is just sufficient to ensure the transmission of information at the rate and with the quality required under specified conditions. Note: Emissions useful for the adequate functioning of the receiving equipment, e.g., the emission corresponding to the carrier of reduced carrier systems, must be included in the necessary bandwidth. ( See Annex J of NTIA Manual of Regulations and Procedures for Federal Radio Frequency Management for formulas used to calculate necessary bandwidth.) 2. The calculated spectral width of an emission. Calculations are made using procedures set forth in part 2 of this chapter [of 47CFR ]. The bandwidth so calculated is considered to be the minimum necessary to convey information at the desired rate with the desired accuracy. |
