Instead of having two or three phone lines, it allows you to have only one phone line instead of paying for three lines which obviously almost cost you 3 times as much) for virtually the same functionality.
Basically it works like having two or three lines except you can't use them at the same time and you only have one number.
With The Line Routing Switch 4.1 calls are routed to either the voice, fax or modem automatically on your single existing phone line. It is basically like an invisible secretary that automatically routes your calls to the correct device without the caller being aware that it isn't a dedicated line.
